Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all that are following my Blog.

I don’t have a poem like Chief Rent A Geek, but I do have a few things to say today.

Today, I’m very grateful for everything I have. This can seem like a blanket statement, but in the economy everyone is freaked. I can be still and say that if we are looking for the bad we will find it and if we are looking for the good we will find it. The most profound thing that I have learned this year is prospective. I also have learned to shut up and listen a whole lot more. It’s amazing what that will do and the doors that it will open. Paying attention to my surroundings and being attentive and not in my head has also helped. I know that this seems random and maybe won’t make any sense to anyone else the main thing is it does to me and that’s ok. I have accomplished some powerful goals this year buying my home, buying my car, and not worrying about our finances or being able to breath. Work is incredible and I have the BEST TEAM  I can ask for.  I found my favorite cd’s today. My kids and family are healthy. What else could a girl ask for.

I’m incredibly GREATFUL.

Thank you to all who have helped me be successful.

Love,

Sherri

Safer Web Browsing

1. Use a safer web browser, such as Mozilla

Firefox 3.0 or Google chrome. Whatever web

browser you use, be certain to download all

updates and familiarize yourself with the built-in

safe surfing features, tweak the settings to

ensure a high degree of protection. Most web

browsers are now able to warn you if you are

about to go to a fraudulent site, (especially a

phishing site) or if a download poses a possible

risk.

Note: No web browser is able to identity every

fraudulent site or risky download.

2. Use a program that helps you decide if the link

is correct. Use Web Of Trust (WOT) from

www.mywot.com for both IE and Firefox. This

program will give you a color ranking that will

help you, at a glance, know what web sites are:

good – Green

so-so – Yellow

beware – Red

3. Be very careful about downloading any software

file from the Internet! Adware, malware and

viruses frequently "ride in" on top music, video

and other files. As a rule, do not download

anything from the Net unless it is from a trusted

source. Don’t use file-sharing software, it is one

major way to get infected.

4. Use anti-adware, anti-malware and anti-virus

software religiously. We recommend the best

product, ESET Anti-virus 3.0 or ESET Smart

Security 3.0 You can purchase at

www.nexgold.com website.

Control who uses your computer. Teenagers especially

are frequently unaware that their music and video

downloads can be dangerous. In general, assume that

anyone other than you using your computer does NOT

know how to prevent adware, malware, virus and

phishing. Their lack of knowledge could endanger your

identity! This security alert is brought to you by

Four Point Insurance

Hello to all:

Four point insurance plan for your computer.

#1. Battery Back up

All machines need power. A lot of the time we plug them into a surge protector thinking that this will protect our  computer system this is a myth. Power fluctuates all of the time a flicker of the lights we can see is called a brown out. The surge protector really only protects  us from one brown out. The way to protect our equipment is to use a battery back up.

#2. Anti-virus

Anti-virus protects our machines from spyware, root kits, fishing, malware and other garbage we don’t want on our machines. Then if you are like me you wonder which one to buy. There are 178,000,000 when you Google it.

#3. Firewall or a router to keep the hackers out. This does need to be set up properly or it won’t work for it’s purpose.

#4. Data Back Up   How important are all of your pictures of your loved ones, kids, and weddings. This is as simple as a flash drive between the cost of $20-69. Backing up your data is a benefit to protection.

Back to Work!

Well,
I have to say my trip to Los Coranado in San Diego, Ca was just incredibly tough to handle.
The beach, watching the sail boats, great food, wine and, perfect temperatures.
Someone had to do it.
Seriously, I went there for the purpose of being trained on our anti-virus software. ESET is the fastest growing anti-virus company and I'm proud to be a part of it. The things I learned were a bit overwhelming and now that I'm back in my office it's all starting to simmer. Eventually, it will all come to the surface. I will have direction with what to do all of the information we received soon.

IT professionals also should be aware of a promotion ESET is offering until the end of the year.
